During the Jump Festa 2023, a global popularity poll for Naruto characters was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Naruto Anime.
The voting started on December 17, 2022, and was closed on January 31, 2023.
The voting of this Global Popularity Poll was divided into 8 separate regions. The 8 regions are:

- Asia
- Oceania
- North America
- Central and South America
- Europe
- Middle East
- Africa
While Minato did win the poll by getting the highest number of votes in many of these regions, he wasn’t the most popular character in every one of them.

The Fourth Hokage of the Leaf, Minato Namikaze, received an extraordinary 792,257 votes out of the 4.6 million votes cast. He received more than over 300,000 votes ahead of Uchiha Itachi, who came in second position in the poll. This was a landslide victory for Konoha’s Yellow Flash.
Minato is set to receive a unique one-shot manga written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto in accordance with the contest’s conditions. The NARUTOP99 contest is yet to specify a release date for Minato’s manga since the one-shot story could not have begun until the poll’s results were completed.
