The sequel to the Naruto Anime and Manga, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations continued the story drawn and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto.
Boruto Manga has published 80 Manga Chapters up until now. The manga is published in Shonen Jump Magazine on a monthly basis.
One of the biggest announcements yet in the Boruto Anime came just very recently, on March 9, 2023. The announcement was regarding the end of Boruto Anime Part 1.
It’s been almost a month now since the Anime has officially gone into Hiatus after airing its final episode. Part 1 of the Anime aired its final episode on March 26, 2023.
Now fans are eagerly waiting for the return of the Anime and are speculating when Boruto Part 2 will start airing again. The Anime has ended on quite a cliffhanger and has many fans wonderstruck. There is so much to be answered and revealed and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for them.
The official studio of Boruto Anime, that is Studio Pierrot, has also confirmed that Boruto Part 2 is already in production. However, an exact release date for the Boruto Anime part 2 hasn’t been revealed yet.
Fans are crossing their fingers hoping the Anime returns soon. While some Anime have this tendency to go into a comparatively long break, Boruto Anime Part 2 is most probably safe from a long Hiatus.
One reason fans can stay rest assured is that the official production team for the Anime has stated that, Part 2 is already under production. As it stands, Boruto fans all over the world are waiting for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Part 2 and cannot wait to see what the future of the shinobi world looks like
When Did Boruto Anime Go Into Hiatus?
Part 1 of Boruto Anime went into Hiatus officially after airing its final episode on March 26, 2023. New episodes used to premier every Sunday and is likely to follow the same routine once the Anime returns.
The first part of the Boruto Anime concluded with episode number 293 titled, Farewell, a fitting name for the final episode.
The announcement of the Hiatus was made on the official Naruto website, on March 9, 2023. It was made clear through the announcement that Boruto Anime Part 1 would soon go into Hiatus before starting the second part of the Anime.

This announcement had mixed reactions, some fans were very sad that one of their beloved Anime was going into a Hiatus and their Sundays won’t be the same anymore. However, other fans believed it was better for the show as the Anime was catching up with the source material. They were very happy with the decision.
Why Did Boruto Anime Go Into Hiatus?
The official reason for the hiatus of the Boruto Anime hasn’t been announced by the team. Although it is speculated that the main reason was Anime catching up to Manga.
And this is a very valid reason as the Boruto Anime was catching up to the Manga at a very speedy rate. So either filler episodes had to be introduced, which fans don’t particularly like, or a break had to be taken. The team chose the latter option.
In summary, Boruto Anime went on Hiatus because of the lack of sufficient source material to adapt. The Boruto Manga is the official source material for the Anime, written and illustrated by Ukyo Kodachi and Masashi Kishimoto. The Anime is entirely based on Manga.
Although the Manga is still ongoing, Anime has started catching up to very recent manga chapters. And one reason why this happened is that Boruto Anime premieres on a weekly basis, whereas every new chapter is published monthly. So the Boruto Anime catching up to the Manga was bound to happen, it was just a matter of when.
Hence the Anime production team decided to take a break, and have decided to come back when enough source material is available for the show.
When Will Boruto Anime Return?
There have been no official announcements regarding the return date for Boruto Anime Part 2.
Boruto is still on Hiatus as of April 2023, leaving many fans wondering when it will be back.
Although there have been no announcements from the official team, fans have speculated when the Boruto Anime might come back.
According to some unofficial sources, the Boruto Anime Part 2 is expected to make its return in October 2023. This speculation is based on Ieaks that suggest the anime shouId come back with a filler arc and a time skip to Part 2 or Boruto Shippuden. Note that this information is unofficial and hasn’t been confirmed by the Studio or any other official sources.
Another possibIe return date for the Anime could be early 2024. This specuIation is based on the assumption that the team will take a longer break to come up with high-quality episodes.
Will Boruto Anime Go Into A Longer Hiatus?
While it is highly anticipated that the Boruto Anime won’t take a very long break, there are some factors that might affect the early return of Boruto Part 2.
One of the main factors is the availability of the required staff and voice actors. One thing the covid pandemic has taught us is that nothing is to be taken up for granted and things can get worse very soon.
The covid pandemic caused huge disruptions in the anime manga industry. Many studios had to take a break and adjust their schedules to comply with proper safety regulations. Should any problems or difficulties occur causing the staff and voice actors to be unavailable, the Anime might take a longer break than speculated.
Another factor affecting the faster return of Anime is its popularity, manga sales, and profitability. Boruto Anime does have a very dedicated fan base and is massively popular as well, so this reason shouldn’t stop the Anime from an early return.
Keep in mind, these all are just our speculations at this point. Until any official announcement regarding the release date is made, the return of the Boruto Anime Part 2 is still uncertain at this point.
