Uchiha Sarada is one of the main characters in the Boruto Series. She is the daughter of Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura. Sarada is best known for her intelligence, strength, and her determination to become Hokage of Konohagakure one day.
Sarada Uchiha has been trending after the Boruto Chapter 80 leaks were revealed. Although she had already unlocked her Sharingan, she was yet to unlock her Mangekyou powers.
In Boruto Chapter 80, Sarada Uchiha finally unlocked her Mangekyou Sharingan. In case you don’t know, a mangekyou sharingan is a unique and advanced form of Sharingan eye that only a handful of Uchiha Clan members possessed. Each mangekyou eye has its own special powers and abilities.
Boruto fans have always been curious regarding when Sarada will awaken her Sharigan. Well, she has finally done it now and we expect to see more of her mangekyou powers in the upcoming chapters.
How Did Sarada Awaken Her Mangekyou Sharingan?
Sarada Uchiha awakened her Mangekyou Sharingan through the extremely strong feeling of love. She awakened her mangekyou in the Boruto Chapter 80 after facing a powerful emotional condition towards Boruto, whom she loves.
As we all know, after Eida used her power to rewrite destiny, Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki’s life events were reversed. Boruto as it stands is a villain in his own story. Everyone in the Boruto Universe including Naruto, Hinata, Mitsuki, and Sasuke has forgotten him as the Boruto they knew previously.
However, Eida’s power didn’t work on two individuals, Sarada Uchiha, and Sumier Kakkei. When Sarada encountered Sasuke and cried in front of him, begging him to save Boruto, that’s when her Mangekyou awakened.
She felt completely hopeless and blamed herself for not being able to do anything for Boruto. She knows that Boruto is innocent. Because of the extreme guilt and the love she possesses towards Boruto, Sarada awakened her Mangekyou eye.
Mangekyou Sharingan is awakened only after being triggered by a huge emotion. Mangekyou doesn’t necessarily need you to lose someone close to you. Some fans misunderstand and believe the only way to get a mangekyou sharingan is through hate, pain, and loss. However, that has never been the case. It just needs a really strong emotion.

And Sasuke Uchiha knows this very well. When Sasuke saw his daughter crying and begging in front of him asking him to move Boruto to a safe place, he hesitated a bit.
But after Sasuke saw Sarada awaken her mangekyou, despite being under the influence of Eida’s godly technique, he chose to believe her daughter and help Boruto. Sarada said, Please Papa Help Boruto while having her eye awakened.
He knows too well that Sarada’s feelings and emotions are very real and that’s the main reason why she awakened the mangekyou eye. As a result, Boruto has a new member on his team now, Uchiha Sasuke.
What Are Sarada Mangekyou Sharingan Abilities?
Sarada’s mangekyou abilities are yet to be revealed. Chapter 80 of Boruto Manga only revealed that Sarada has awakened her Mangekyou Sharingan.
Information regarding her mangekyou powers and abilities should be revealed in the upcoming Boruto chapters. But for this, fans might have to wait for a while, as the Boruto Manga is going into a Hiatus.
Fan theories however have shown some possibilities of abilities Sarada’s mangekyou sharingan could possess. Sarada might get ocular Genjutsu abilities like Izanami or Izanagi, or she might get some power that is able to bend through space and time.
It has also been highly speculated since the beginning of the Boruto Manga that Sarada just like mother Sakura will have the strength of a Hundred Seal on her Forehead. This will allow Sarada to store an immense amount of Chakra and use it whenever she is short of it. She will also get a Susano of her own in the future.
Some amazing mangekyou sharingan abilities we have seen so far in Naruto Verse are Itachi’s Amaterasu, which allowed him to create black flames that can burn anything in their path, and Obito’s Kamui, which allowed him to travel into his own pocket dimension.
Descendents of the Uchiha Clan are the only individuals that can awaken a Sharingan. And eventually, a handful of them awaken mangekyou Sharingan as well after witnessing a huge emotional condition. These Uchihas who have awakened Mangekyou can only have one ability in each eye, resulting in a total of two mangekyou sharingan abilities per user.
This being said, there is a way for an Uchiha to use more than two mangekyou abilities. This is done with Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. EMS can be obtained by an Uchiha by implanting the Mangekyou Sharingan of some other Uchiha who is very close to them.
Doing this will allow them to use the Mangekyou abilities of both, the original owner and the donor of the MS. Besides this, the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan (EMS) also allows them to use a new ability.
